Dr. Aditya Mehta grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Dr. Mehta completed his ophthalmology residency at the San Antonio Military Medical Center in 2019. There he served as chief resident and published his work in many research journals, for which he received the Commandant’s Research Award. Upon graduation from residency, Dr. Mehta was stationed in El Paso, TX, where he currently serves as the medical director of William Beaumont Army Medical Center Warfighter Refractive Eye Program. He has performed thousands of refractive eye surgeries including LASIK, ZEISS SMILE, PRK, and ICL implantation. He was the first surgeon in El Paso to perform ZEISS SMILE surgery.
While in the military, Dr. Mehta has deployed overseas, functioning as the sole military ophthalmologist for all US and NATO forces in Iraq. Dr. Mehta values charitable work and has volunteered on medical missions in South and Central America, performing cataract and pterygium surgeries. When he is not at work, his hobbies include bike riding and rock climbing.
